South West CDC Newsletter 2006: Singing Sensation!
The audience was in for a treat at the Annual Vocal Consort Concert Trois Chansons at the Victoria Concert Hall. The pride of the South West District had won not just one but two gold awards at the Voyage of Songs 21st Century International Choral Festival in 2003.
The Vocal Consort did not disappoint and delivered one of their best performances to celebrate their fifth anniversary. While The Vocal Consort sometimes expands its vocal range overseas, its heart remains deeply entrenched in the community. Guest-of-Honour Mayor Amy Khor, was impressed by their efforts to "nurture our young talents, grow local performance groups, perform and compete to become a premier community choir."
As The Vocal Consort stocks up on honey for the upcoming International Festival of Songs and Choirs, Olomouc '06 Mundi Cantant competition in June at Olomouc, Czech Republic, we can only give them our full support and wish them all the best. Success in Olomouc is only fitting for a group that has given so much to the community.
